Ecuador is lucky to have just 2 seasons, Kitesurf Season and Surfing Season. Prime Kitesurf season runs from May - December where the winds blow from 15 knotts to 22 knotts nearly every day. The wind direction at our Kitesurf beaches is side onshore blowing from the south with thermal winds. Also, if you kite foil there are beaches in Ecuador where you can Kite 11 months of year. Montanita is a surf town and is lucky to have surf 12 months a year and is between 2 kite towns one about 40 mins away and the other 2 hours away. Montañita, EcuadorMontañita, Ecuador is on the southern coast of Ecuador, 2 hours from Ecuador's financial capital Guayaquil, airport code GYE. Ecuador is the last warm water destination before you hit the southern cold water currents of Peru. In Montanita we surf in board shorts year round with water temps ranging from 75-82 degrees.
Montañita is perfectly located on the coast of Ecuador to receive north and south swells. Our primary season runs from December - May in North Season but have waves year round from June - November as well with souths. South swells can bring trickier conditions with a bit more onshore flow and colder water |

This is an open ocean spot with great waves for the surfboard on a reef that breaks 200 meters offshore and windchop for your twin tip. Also a number of great downwind pointbreaks to foil waves.
- Crucita - Flat water river mouth which can be fun on the right tide
